I have a love/hate relationship with Wal-Mart. Mostly hate. 90% of all the times I have gone have been irritating, annoying or simply awful experiences. I do all I can to avoid going to Wal-Mart.
BUT I have figured out the 2 ways to enjoy the savings of Wal-Mart without the hassle of dealing with unpleasant customer service workers.
1) NEVER go to a Wal-Mart inside the perimeter. ESPECIALLY the one on Howell Mill. Just don’t.
2) Shop Wal-Mart online. They have free site-to-store shipping! Again, do NOT pick up your purchase inside the perimeter. I have my reasons.
For example, we stopped by Wal-Mart this evening to pick up our puppy’s Christmas present (an imitation cherry wood dog bowl/feeder with storage bin). We waited at Customer Service for about 20 minutes (Gripe #1: Why is there always a line at Wal-Mart customer service?! It was 9:00pm!) We were then informed we would need to go to the back to the “Site-to-Store” pickup location. Again, we waited for another 30 minutes until someone came to help us. (Gripe #2: The “alert an associate” button DOES NOT WORK. It lies and tells you that someone will be with you momentarily. We waited for 30 minutes and when someone finally sauntered to the back, they looked surprised that we were standing there! They then casually “alerted an associate” to help us. GUH!)
The only redeeming fact about this entire experience is the adorable feeder with storage that we picked up for Lola. It was only $35 as opposed to others we’ve seen for $100-$150.
Next time I will just have it shipped to my house.

I LOVE restaurant weeks in Atlanta. With so many restaurants to try, they provide the perfect opportunity to experience some of Atlanta’s eclectic cuisine made by award winning chefs….for a really great price.
This week is Inman Park’s Restaurant Week. A little info about Inman Park: “Located just two miles east of downtown Atlanta, Inman Park is not only the home of gracious Victorian mansions and contemporary new lofts, but also a major culinary destination. Restaurant-rich, the area has more than 14 restaurants and pubs, offering everything from American, Southern, European and ethnic cuisine to your favorite pub dishes. No wonder Inman Park has become an area with an increasingly sophisticated palate.” -inmanparkrestaurantweek.com
For Inman Park’s Restaurant week, there are 3 price ranges to choose from. Get a three course meal for $15-$35. Check out their website for restaurants/prices/menus: http://www.inmanparkrestaurantweek.com/
